About

Katie Mather is a current research assistant for the social influence neuroaesthetics project and a junior Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology major at Loyola University Chicago.

She is interested in pursuing her Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology, where she would like to become a neuropsychologist and continue doing research in neurological diseases, neuroaesthetics, mental illness, antisocial behavior and violence, and learning disabilities. Her research interest began after serving as a research assistant for Shirley Ryan Ability Lab’s study to improve digital communication for people with aphasia and a Loyola Ph.D. student’s dissertation in child development in Dominican cultures.

Outside of school, she was captain of Loyola’s Division I volleyball team until having to medically retire her junior fall season from chronic injuries, so she now stays involved as a student coach and director of volleyball operations; she also enjoys playing the guitar, piano, and exploring Chicago.
