Although not all art emphasizes beauty, the aesthetic-value system of artists influence their work.  We thus have been studying whether the principles of aesthetic values that are emerging from scientific research apply to choices in visual art.  So far, we have focused on ties between aesthetic values, and visual symmetry, balance, and amount of information.
